The Royal Astronomical Society is a ‘learned society’, a charity that works to advance astronomy, space science, and geophysics in the UK and throughout the world. Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to apply to become a member.

Women only make up about 18% of our current fellowship, LGBT+ women are significantly underrepresented, and our latest demographic survey shows that 91% of UK Fellows are white, compared to 82% of people in the UK population as a whole.

We can better represent the views of scientists worldwide if we have a diverse Fellowship, and welcome everyone with a professional interest in our sciences.
